Jomblang Cave Activity : What Will We Do There?

Jomblang Cave is perfectly amazing. The best thing is that Jomblang Cave is just a short day trip from down-town Yogyakarta. It contrasts with the culture and temples of Borobudur and Prambanan. If you want to try exploring Jomblang Cave, here are some information related to activity that will help you to prepare.

Go Down The  Cave

Because this cave is vertical, you need to go down by rope to reach the bottom of the cave. You will use a full body harness to make sure your safety. The guide team will help and give you the instructions. After all the equipment ready, you will be lowered into the Jomblang Cave on a single rope about 60 meters.

While you go down the cave, the underground forest will welcome you with its clean and fresh air. The teak trees, bushes, ferns, and other various moss will also greet you.  There is a guide who already waiting for you and ready to help you take off the harness safely. After you reach the bottom of the cave, you will see something that you never imagine. It’s really amazing to realize that you are under the 60 meters on earth with incredible ancient forest scenery. Then, you will go inside the cave in a group and a guide will accompany you. Also, he will explain some information related to the forest and the Jomblang Cave.

Enter The Jomblang Cave

The doors of the hall are very big. It doesn’t look from above but it slowly appear as we descended. You will realize how big it is when you almost entered it. There are block stones which arranged neatly to help visitors to enter the cave. Before you started caving, you will go about 250 metres in and that eventually bring you to Grubug Cave. After walking 250 meters, you will find out Grubug Cave (vertical cave too) which 90 metres deep. The flow of the river in the bottom can be heard. It’s from Kali Suci River and leads to Baron Beach in the South.

The river flows become clearer as you go deeper. Once you are in Grubug Cave area, the cool atmosphere inside the connecting hall of the two cave, Jomblang and Grubug, turned into a bit humid and hot. After tracking about three minutes, you will see a very amazing spot with a beam of sunlight that come through the mouth of the cave. This is what the visitors called as “the light of heaven”. This is a good place to take a photos as many as you want. You can ask the guide if you need a help for taking photos.

Comeback

The caving activity will spend around 2 hours. You will exit through the same way of the entrance. To go up, you will be pulled one by one or two together from the bottom of the cave. When you get the top, you will impress with the process of pulling the visitors out of the cave. It’s manual. You will be pulled by several people, one person manage at the front, one person adjust the strap and the others pull it.


After all equipment is taken off, you will serve with a simple lunch and beverages. And then, after finish the lunch, you can see the Grubug Cave from above which covered by thick and dense leaves.
